| THE DILEMMA OF MANKIND What I believe and what you believe Starts the dilemma of man For I am right and you are not That’s the dilemma of man The world would be a better place If only you believed like me I am right and you are not That’s the dilemma of man If I can make you believe like me What a better world this would be I’ll teach you, I’ll criticize you I’ll fight you, I’ll kill you What a better world this would be I’ll force you, I’ll criticize you I’ll fight you, I’ll KILL you All of our fights – All of our wars WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED If only you believe like me SOLUTION TO THE DILEMMA: Differ from me, allow you to be Starts the solution of man \Disagree with you, accept you That’s the solution of man Just let me be and I’ll let you be Solves the dilemma of man Just let me be and I’ll let you be Solves the dilemma of man Trust in you – Trust in me What a better world this would be Allow you to be, allow me to be What a better world this would be No more fights – No more wars Only peace and tranquility WHAT A BETTER WORLD THIS WOULD BE -Laurence - Vail Pass (66 years later) Dec. 11, 2007 |

: THE ESSENCE OF HUMAN EQUALITY You cannot have the Dilemma of Man nor the Solution for the Dilemma without confronting the extremes of mankind. We have to start with the premise of inalienable rights that are universal to all mankind. They are the essence of human equality, the foundation of our equality in spite of our diversity. These Rights are few in number and include the Right to Life, Liberty, Freedom of Expression, the Right to Confidentiality, Freedom from Capture and Freedom from Physical and Emotional Violation. These rights are within each individual and cannot be “given” to them or “taken” from them. They can only be freed to “be”. No one has the right to violate them. In societies where individuals are not allowed these Rights, that society must work toward freeing them from within. By definition, anyone or ones who attempt to remove these rights from individuals or societies who already have attained them must be stopped. This is the exception to the Solution of the Dilemma. You cannot let others “be” if they are intruding on these inalienable rights of others. These human rights make each of us equal members of humanity. As such they are unique, unchallengeable, and superior to all other belief systems. These are the rights which guide mankind to the Solution of the Dilemma. The process of actualizing these Rights is the course of the development of man and his societies. Laurence September 2008 |
